Biography

ANnCO MIURA is a Japanese painter originally from Shizuoka, Japan.
As a child, she learned how to hold a brush from her aunt, a calligraphy teacher, who introduced her to painting and various forms of artistic expression. Her aunt's philosophy—valuing freedom of perception and freedom of expression—became the foundation of Miura's artistic practice. It encouraged her to create fearlessly, guided by curiosity and exploration rather than tradition or convention.
As her artistic practice developed, Miura felt compelled to leave Japan in search of an environment where she could express her sensitivity and creativity more freely. She moved to Paris at the end of 2010 and, in early 2011, joined a Parisian art association supported by the city, marking the beginning of her professional career as a painter in France.
Based in Paris, Miura has traveled extensively throughout Europe and beyond, actively seeking encounters with different people, cultures, and landscapes. These experiences have become an important source of inspiration for her work. Living far from her homeland also led her to rediscover the depth of Japanese culture and spirituality within herself.
Over the years, through constant experimentation and the exploration of new techniques, Miura has developed a distinctive visual language. Her abstract paintings are composed of forms and lines that symbolize the infinite possibilities and complexities of human life—a labyrinth of pursuit, discovery, adventure, failure, and success.
Both dynamic and delicate, her works evoke a palpable sense of vibration, atmosphere, and space. Viewers often describe an experience that lies somewhere between the fifth and sixth senses—a heightened perception that transcends ordinary observation.
Today, Miura works primarily from her Paris studio while participating in exhibitions, salons, and gallery shows in various countries and cities around the world. Her works are included in private and public collections across Japan, France, Italy, Germany, the United States, and other countries.
In November 2018, her solo exhibition at the flagship BVLGARI boutique in Madrid attracted significant attention and was featured in Madame Figaro. The opening reception welcomed numerous notable guests, including public figures and former government officials.
Since September 2019, selected works from Miura's private collection have been exhibited at the Osaka Takashimaya Louis Vuitton store, where they were introduced as part of an interior art project directed by Louis Vuitton's Interior Design Director during the store's renovation.
