Tracing the Memory of the Land with a Paintbrush — Annco Miura × THE HIRAMATSU KARUIZAWA MIYOTA
From October 1 to 31, 2026, Annco Miura will present a new body of work at THE HIRAMATSU KARUIZAWA MIYOTA in Nagano, Japan.
The works were born from her encounters with Miyota — its landscape, its people, its soil and plants, and the many lives rooted in this place.
Walking through the landscape at the foot of Mount Asama, visiting local producers and spending time with the people who live and work there, she discovered not only the beauty of the surroundings, but something less visible: the passage of time held within the land and the memories of those who have shaped it.
She brought these impressions back to France, where she transformed them into a new body of work in her studio.
The exhibition itself offers an unusual experience.
The works will be presented in the Annex, located within a private area of the hotel and accessible exclusively to guests staying at THE HIRAMATSU KARUIZAWA MIYOTA.
Staying among the forests of Miyota, breathing its air, tasting the cuisine of the region and experiencing the rhythm of the landscape become part of the encounter with the paintings themselves.
For the first time, the project will also bring painting and gastronomy into dialogue through a collaboration with Executive Chef Akio Yanagihara.
Inspired by the theme “Shinshu ingredients × Annco Miura,” the project explores how painting and cuisine — two very different forms of expression — can emerge from and respond to the same land.
From October 23 to 25, Annco Miura will be in Miyota to take part in three special collaborative dinner events.

Through their encounter in one place, the project invites guests to experience the new memories that may emerge between them.
